How to learn a song, one phrase at a time
Start with a song you enjoy. Use focused listening, reference pitch and a backing track to work through one manageable section at a time.
Listen before singing
Listen to the original song first. Then switch to the separated vocal to hear the melody more clearly. Notice where each phrase begins and ends.
Choose your practice range
The practice page starts with the whole song selected. Set Start and End when you want to focus on a shorter section. The listening, singing and selected-range recording use the same passage.
Follow the reference pitch
Watch the pitch and any available timed lyrics while the audio plays. Reference pitch is an estimate; use your ears alongside the visual guide.
Sing with the backing track
Listen first, sing with the backing, or alternate listening and singing. Repeat the passage before widening your selection. You can stop whenever you need a break.
Record and listen back
Wear headphones to keep backing audio out of the microphone. Record with or without backing, listen to your take, and download it or choose to save it to the cloud.
