Day 1 · 5–10 min

Listen for a phrase

Your focus: Hear one short phrase before trying to copy it.

Try this

Play the excerpt twice without singing. Tap along gently to notice the pulse.
Listen for where the voice enters and where the phrase finishes.
Hum a small part at a comfortable pitch.

Day 2 · 5–10 min

Hold one comfortable note

Your focus: Notice what a steady note looks and sounds like.

Try this

Listen to the reference note. Stop playback before singing.
Use a gentle “ah” for about two seconds at a comfortable octave.
Open the pitch detector and try again; look for a relatively steady curve.

Can you hold a clear note without pushing your voice?

Day 3 · 5–10 min

Follow a small melody

Your focus: Hear when notes move up and down.

Try this

Listen to the five-note up-and-down pattern.
Hum the contour slowly, starting wherever your voice feels comfortable.
Try again with “ah”; use the detector to notice changes rather than chase every fluctuation.

Day 4 · 5–10 min

Learn one vocal phrase

Your focus: Connect the melody with a short part of the song.

Try this

Listen to the separated vocal excerpt once without singing.
Hum the melody, then add the words you can hear.
On the example page, use 19.88–28.00 seconds to explore the same passage. The timing and reference pitch are estimates.

Day 5 · 5–10 min

Sing with the backing

Your focus: Keep the phrase moving while the lead voice is absent.

Try this

Listen to the original excerpt again if you need the entry cue.
Play the backing excerpt and sing the same phrase at a comfortable volume.
If you lose your place, listen to the vocal again and retry a shorter part.

Can you stay with the passage and find the ending?

Day 6 · 5–10 min

Record and listen back

Your focus: Choose one specific thing to improve.

Try this

In the practice room, select the passage and wear headphones.
Record a take with or without backing, then listen back. Recording is part of paid singing practice.
Pick one detail: an entry, a note or an unclear word. Repeat once with that detail in mind.

Day 7 · 5–10 min

Connect and repeat

Your focus: Turn small attempts into a repeatable practice routine.

Try this

Try the familiar phrase, then add a neighbouring phrase if you feel ready.
Use the range test to explore comfortable endpoints; treat its animal result as a game, not a voice classification.
Choose what to repeat next: listening, a note, the phrase or a recording.

What if I cannot match the reference notes?
